TR Register QLD - Lost Weekend 5/7th May 07
Photos and Story courtesy of Bob Watters.
Here's a few pictures from our weekend away on 5th, 6th & 7th May which was a long weekend in Qld.

It was only a small group; 4 Sidescreens, 1 TR6, 1 V12 E Type, a Falcon and a Commodore. Talk about keen, the Gullivers brought two cars the TR2 and the Commodore back-up car with baby Harry and all his necessities. Both Kevin and Joan shared the Sidescreen driving.

Cherryle did all the planning and took us for three great days of driving in the area where she grew up near Lismore. We kept to the hills on Sunday and drove over 100 miles without seeing a town, apart from a long distance view of Byron Bay from a lookout, but were never more than 10 miles from several towns, it really had the group confused. As usual there was a cultural highlight included. Last year was the Tom Roberts exhibition, this year the Aboriginal Bora Ring at Tucki.

We also enjoyed antique shops, a walk in the bush at Minyon Falls (shame there was no water over the falls), the Eltham Coffee Plantation and the Ti Tree Centre and Maritime Museum at Ballina. Julie Oliver had her first ride in a Sidescreen TR, this was made even more special as the driver was Joan Gulliver of Inverell Motorkana and Armidale Skid Pan fame. Julie enjoyed a great drive up over the Springbrook escarpment in perfect top down weather.

We had a lot of fun and the "happy hours" just keep getting better. A highlight was the pod of dolphins that followed the ferry crossing the Richmond River from South Ballina. We can't wait to do it again next year.
