Tribute From Viv Payne

On behalf of President Geoff and State Co-Ordinator Tony, I regret to advise that long time Victorian TRR member Jeff Scorer passed away peacefully on Thursday March 18th, at the wonderful age of 93.

Jeff of course was well known as the original owner from brand new of the famous 1954 Geranium TR2. I remember only too well Jeff telling me the story of how he ordered a red car when in the UK, and was rather shocked when a pink car arrived in Australia. But that distinctive shade of "red" must have grown on Jeff as he resprayed it a very similar colour when it was rebuilt with short doors in 1988. Over the years Jeff enjoyed running the TR2 at various hillclimbs such as Mt Tarrengower in central Victoria.

Lesser known is that Jeff was also a successful circuit racing driver at tracks such as Albert Park Lake, in the 1950's Stirling Moss era. He was prominent in a rapid GP Alta, formerly in the hands of famous Australian international driver Tony Gaze.

Jeff was buried last Wednesday March 24th in the Springvale Botanical Cemetary near his old TRR friend, Lyall Copeland. So I guess they each now have someone to chat with about TR's whenever the need arises. As an engineer and long time classic car buff, Jeff's family wished him peace forever in his heavenly workshop .
