Tenterfield TRip by the QLD group
April 2006

Report from Tour leader - Bob Watters
"8 cars spent 3 days roaming the Tenterfield area 5 Sidescreens, 1 E Type Jag, 1 TR6 and 1 non Triumph (all non Sidescreen drivers have Sidescreens at home in various stages of repair). We visited Inverell and to show we're not philistines only interested in things with wheels we attended the Art Gallery and enjoyed the exhibition of Tom Roberts paintings. Missed catching up with Ron and Anne Thorp who were in Armidale with the Vintage Triumph Register.

Had 2 great nights of dining and fun at The Commercial Hotel at Tenterfield where the kitchen hosts Peter and Beryl cooked great home style meals with true blue Aussie hospitality. This is a friendly pub, the owner is a bike man and allows bikers who are staying overnight at the pub to park their bikes in the lounge bar, certainly makes a great conversation starter when you are ordering a beer.

The drive home was a real blast with the revitalised Rumpole leading the way followed closely by Neville Powell (with Neville's friend John in the navigators seat) with Kevin and Joan in the BRG TR2 (Winston) close behind. When Kevin's behind you the image in the rear view mirror takes you back to Le Mans 1955 with the BRG car and a pair of big Lucas Flamethrowers and the demonic grin of the driver going full throttle. What a sight! The newly registered OTR356 of John and Judy Buck survived the rigors of the trip which is testament to the amount of work that has gone into getting this car back on the road.
We can't wait for the next trip to Warwick and the Granite Belt on the long weekend in June where the organisers Julie and Richard Oliver have some more great times planned."

Didn't get a picture of Bob and Joyce Fast in the Falcon or Bob and Cherryle who were out of the car taking the pictures.
